Heartfelt Podcast

Heartfelt Consciousness Podcast

Free Community Offering | Mondays | 6:30PM-7:30PM CDT
Laura Bender

Yoga first made an appearance in Laura’s life several years ago and as an avid runner, she heard yoga could play a huge part in improving her form, mental control, breathing, flexibility and balance. Over the last few years, she discovered that it’s so much more than that. While her practice has helped her grow stronger and more flexible, it has taught her the importance of mindfulness and gratitude. Yoga inspires Laura to shine from her heart and open up her soul, to be her most authentic self. Laura completed her 200 hour Vinyasa training with Omnipresent Yoga and has gone on to complete her 300 hour training with My Vinyasa Practice as well as several other programs in Yin, Yoga Nidra, Mindfulness Meditation, Mindfulness Coaching, Aromatherapy and Restorative Yoga. In addition, being a Reiki Master allows her to bring a holistic aspect to her classes that help balance the body and mind. Laura is currently an E-RYT 200, RYT 500, and YACEP with Yoga Alliance.

Our latest Heartfelt Consciousness Podcast Episode goes LIVE every Monday.

Laura Bender talks with a variety of individuals from fellow yogis, yoga teachers, specialists, and more to share their knowledge and expertise on challenges many of us face today both in and outside of our yoga practice and teachings. Not to mention, the fun and entertaining connections that can happen along the way in our journey!

Check out Laura’s Heartfelt Consciousness Podcast every Monday for something new!

Chakras are organizing centers for receiving, assimilating and transmitting life’s energies. When our chakras are aligned and buzzing in harmony, life can seem a little bit more balanced and less chaotic.

In the this workshop,  we will review each of the chakras; focusing on the Root Chakra (Muladhara) located at the base of the spine. We will combine movement through yoga asana (physical), meditation, pranayama (breathwork) and art to connect to our root chakra.

Once in an open, receiving space, the next phase of the workshop will allow participants to let go of the left-brain- the analytical and methodical side and let the right brain rule- the creative and artistic side. Participants may use Tempura paints, markers or drawing pencils to create their Muladhara chakra. Combining Yoga and Art, trust the process and let intuition lead the way!

The Goddess Pose: The Audacious Life of Indra Devi, the Woman Who HelpedBring Yoga to the West*

By: Michelle Goldberg

The incredible story of Indra Devi –actress, dancer, yogi, globetrotter– who brought yoga to America and to much of the rest of the western world. Born Eugenia Peterson in early 20th century Russia, Indra Devi was a rebel from earliest childhood. In the 1930s she fled to Berlin, and then driven by her passion for yoga and a fascination with yogic philosophy; she journeyed to India, at a time when unaccompanied young European women were unheard of. In India she convinced even the most recalcitrant yogis, from Krishnamurti to Krishnamacharya, to reveal to her the secrets of their art. She would go on to share what she learned with men and women around the world, teaching Gloria Swanson and Greta Garbo in Hollywood, then moving to Mexico and later to Buenos Aires. The Goddess Pose brings Indra Devi’s little known but wholly remarkable story to life.
