Events

Community yoga events help to invite relationships and personal development. We believe in fostering personal connection and community throughout our studio, both in-person and online. That’s why we’ve put so much into creating community yoga events that are designed to help you connect with your teachers and other yogis all over the world.

We are currently offering interactive Live Stream workshops and events as well as Community Yoga Events at our Austin studio. Check out the listings below to find our next offering and register.  All times listed are in U.S. Central Time.

Free Community Summer Series | Alternating Saturdays | 10am CDT

Join My Vinyasa Practice at Mueller Lake Park for FREE Community Outdoor Summer Series every other Saturday! Please bring your own mat, props, and the family for a morning of yoga in beautiful Mueller Lake Park!

We will start at 10am CDT for a 60 minute all-levels flow!

Alyssa Clark

Alyssa loves sharing the joy and power of yoga with anyone at any stage in life or practice. She’s been a practitioner for over a decade and is an RYT 200. As a lifelong lover of learning, she continues to study the science and philosophy of yoga. Alyssa’s Vinyasa classes are fun, creative, and welcoming – and she can guarantee a killer playlist, too.

 

Join us on the lawn at My Vinyasa Practice for a FREE Community Outdoor Yoga at our local Austin studio every Sunday! Please bring your own mat and any props you may want to incorporate in your practice.

We gather at noon to flow under the Austin sun. Alyssa Clark will lead you through a 60 minute all-levels flow focused on loving and giving gratitude to the most important person in your life – you!

We’re still wearing masks and physically distancing to keep our communities safe. Lavender face masks available on-site.

MVP Community Offering | Sundays | 5PM-6PM CDT
Angela Deen

Living with Multiple Sclerosis since the age of 21, Angela thought her my body was her enemy. It wasn’t until she discovered yoga that she began to form a relationship with her body, becoming more in union with her mind, body, and spirit. Yoga has helped Angela befriend her body; allowing her to feel at peace within herself in a way she’d never felt before. It is her mission to provide yoga and meditation to folks who think they don’t “fit the mold”. Her philosophy is that Yoga is for everyone and every body. Angela is a RYT 500 and a Certified Accessible Yoga Teacher. In addition, she is enrolled in the C-IAYT program at My Vinyasa Practice.

One of the eight limbs of yoga, pranayama is an ancient ritual proven to awaken the mind and enliven the senses. In this weekly community offering, we will explore many different types of pranayama and their benefits, some benefits include: reducing stress, increasing energy, improving sleep, and improving mental clarity. Each class will begin with a short meditation, brief history and explanation of the pranayama technique, practice of the technique, and a brief group discussion of the experience with time for any questions. We will work with a variety of pranayama techniques, highlighting and focusing on one technique per class.
Some of the pranayama techniques we will learn are:

Heartfelt Consciousness Podcast

Laura Bender

Yoga first made an appearance in Laura’s life several years ago and as an avid runner, she heard yoga could play a huge part in improving her form, mental control, breathing, flexibility and balance. Over the last few years, she discovered that it’s so much more than that. While her practice has helped her grow stronger and more flexible, it has taught her the importance of mindfulness and gratitude. Yoga inspires Laura to shine from her heart and open up her soul, to be her most authentic self. Laura completed her 200 hour Vinyasa training with Omnipresent Yoga and has gone on to complete her 300 hour training with My Vinyasa Practice as well as several other programs in Yin, Yoga Nidra, Mindfulness Meditation, Mindfulness Coaching, Aromatherapy and Restorative Yoga. In addition, being a Reiki Master allows her to bring a holistic aspect to her classes that help balance the body and mind. Laura is currently an E-RYT 200, RYT 500, and YACEP with Yoga Alliance.

Bridget Martin

Bridget Martin is a 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher and Certified Meditation Teacher. She teaches Vinyasa, Power Yoga, Meditation and Restorative Yoga. Her path to yoga began as a healthy outlet to aid in stress reduction. Bridget is also a wellness blogger and self-care podcast host. When she’s not practicing, you can find her enjoying nature, hiking, or playing with her cat, Oke.

Join MVP in the online studio once a week for ZOOM COFFEE AND COMMUNITY!

We’ll open with a meditation and then connect with one another on life, training, and what it means to be a Yogi. This hour-long session will begin with few minutes of meditation, centering, or grounding at 9am CST. Afterward, we’ll switch to break-out rooms, or stay in community to connect, depending on the size of the group and the vibe. This will be an informal, unstructured way for students to get to know each other and their teachers! ALL ARE WELCOME, NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

PARTNER SUPPORTED DE-STRESS & RELAX

October 2nd | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM CDT

In this beginner friendly workshop, you will learn to offer hands on assists and massage in gentle postures with the use of essentials oils, to promote relaxation and communication as we practice leaning into both verbal and non-verbal communication between partners, while promoting connection and a felt sense of support.

Kris is 200 E-RYT certified. Her classes focus on intention setting, breath and moving meditation.

Miguel is 200-RYT certified. His teachings are centred around meditation and grounding.

Vanisha Weatherspoon

Vanisha is an RYT 500 and native of Killeen, TX. She began her yoga journey when she began taking classes in Austin after making her way there for school/ work. Her love for yoga truly developed when she began law school in Washington, DC. Law students are at heightened risk for alcoholism, drug abuse, anxiety and depression, so she looked to yoga to help her avoid falling victim to one of the former. It was here on her yoga mat where she discovered true happiness and peace, which led her to want to bring this to her law school community, but also others.

 

Want to learn more about how to integrate music into your teaching classes and personal practice? Especially when offering this to practitioners, whether in-person or through live stream, there are some points to consider, that Vanisha (RYT500) will be happy to explain and ponder on with you.

YOGA THERAPY FOR Sleep

Ali Kamas

Exercise has always been part of Ali’s life but once introduced to yoga she was immediately hooked. After suffering from a health crisis, she began exploring yoga therapy as a solution. After practicing asana (posture), pranayama (breath) and meditation her pain, fatigue, and brain fog began to subside. Now with a clearer head, healthier body and little pain she wants to share the healing power of yoga to her clients. Ali is a 500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher and specializes in breath-centered asana in gentle, healing, restorative yoga.  Ali is studying/training at MVP to become a certified yoga therapist.

There seems to be a societal belief in the western world that slowing down means you aren’t doing “”enough””, but in this session, we will discuss strategies and benefits of resting and how it can increase productivity and well-being. This event will include a guided meditation, a lecture portion, and a short slow-flow yoga class followed by time for journaling and a community share circle.

INTRO TO INVERSIONS

Kristiana Castillo Vuong

Kristiana first came to yoga after moving to Austin to attend college. From the start she got far more from the practice than a workout. Though she was first drawn to the intensity of power classes, she now enjoys the structure of Ashtanga and the ease of a gentle flow.

She completed her 200hr YTT and began teaching in local studios full time. Her classes focus on intention setting, breath and moving meditation.

In this workshop we will learn how an inversion practice can benefit your overall yoga practice, while focusing on strengthening the core and isolating the muscles required to invert through accessible warm up techniques. Join Micaela for a 60 minute compassionate and gentle restorative sequence themed around the heart chakra, compassion, and gratitude. Please bring all of the props your heart desires from pillows and blankets to a cup of tea and a snack. After your practice, Micaela will talk a bit about the process of using compassionate self forgiveness and other mindfulness techniques to bring about ease, knowing that you have the tools you need within you.

ESSENTIAL OILS & YOUR PRACTICE

Essential Oils & Your Practice

MVP Community Offering | October 31st | 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM CDT

During this workshop we will explore how you can use essential oils in your personal practices. We will learn the benefits, and ways to use lavender essential oil in a relaxing yoga class. The workshop will conclude with a 30 minute guided relaxation in an extended savasana, incorporating lavender essential oil.

Laura Bender is an ERYT 200, RYT 500, YACEP with my practice/teachings focused on Restorative, Yin, and Yoga Nidra as well as a certified level 1 Aromatherapist offering therapeutic application of essential oils.
