Overview

Our Children’s Yoga Teacher Certification is a playful, educational, and heart-centered training designed to prepare teachers to confidently lead yoga classes for kids ages 2–17. Under the guidance of Leti Alvarez, you’ll explore the foundations of child development, classroom management, yoga philosophy, sequencing, and creative teaching tools that make yoga meaningful and fun for young practitioners. 

Whether you’re an educator, yoga teacher, parent, or childcare professional, this training will equip you with the skills to introduce yoga in studios, schools, after-school programs, and community spaces.

What You’ll Learn

Course Goals

By completing this training, you will:

  • Learn to teach safe, engaging, and age-appropriate yoga classes for children ages 2–17

  • Understand how to sequence children’s classes and adapt in real time

  • Explore techniques for keeping kids engaged and knowing when to pivot

  • Gain insight into children’s physical, mental, and emotional development

  • Learn effective behavioral management strategies

  • Understand how to communicate with both children and parents about yoga

  • Practice guiding mindfulness, relaxation, and pranayama for kids

  • Create interdisciplinary classes that introduce the 8-limbs of yoga

  • Learn self-regulation tools to help children manage stress, worry, and anxiety

  • Explore the business of children’s yoga and where you can teach

  • Support kids in integrating mind–body–heart awareness into daily life

  • And most importantly — have fun while teaching!

Tuition

This training is offered at $195, which includes both training weekends, materials, and certification upon successful completion.

Certification Requirements

Upon completion of:

  • Two training weekends (20 hours total)

  • A take-home assignment (graded)

You will receive a Children’s Yoga Teacher Certification from My Vinyasa Practice, which qualifies for 20 hours worth of CEUs with Yoga Alliance

Participants may use training materials, themes, and ideas from the course to begin teaching. We encourage creativity and authentic expression as you develop your unique teaching style.

Attendance Requirement:
All sessions must be attended in full. You may miss up to 3 hours and still be eligible for certification. Emergencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Your Instructor

Leti (she/her) is a E-RYT 500 and YACEP certified instructor, C-IAYT Yoga therapist, and a registered End of Life Doula. Leti teaches Flow, Nervous System Reset, Restore & Sound, Stretch & Sound Healing, Yin, and Yin & Sound. Leti’s Flow classes are upbeat, accessible, and set to carefully curated playlists. Her Restorative classes are perfect for stress reduction and a meaningful break from a busy life. They always culminate in a luxurious sound bath. Leti caters to students of all levels, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and comfortable as soon as they step onto their mat. In Leti’s classes, expect a creative and fun sequence that uses the principles of alignment. Her classes will empower and encourage you to explore and connect with your true self and to find your own teacher within.

Outside the studio, Leti enjoys travel, photography, hikes, and theater. Ask her about her time serving in the Peace Corps in Madagascar!

Saturday, February 14 — 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM

Final Teaching Experience

The training concludes with a Children’s Yoga Community Class led by the trainees.


Participants are encouraged to invite friends, neighbors, children, and grandchildren to attend and enjoy this celebratory practice.
